On Monday night, Beyonce shocked fans in Los Angeles by bringing out Kendrick Lamar for her Renaissance World Tour show.
In doing so, they debuted their most recent collaboration, a remix of “America Has a Problem,” live for the first time. The concert was the final of three at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Unfortunately for those in attendance, the occasion was marred by technological difficulties. Lamar’s mike cut out during the concert, according to supporters on social media. Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers rapper was not the only guest on the show. Earlier in the evening, Diana Ross serenaded Beyonce in honor of her birthday.
Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar have worked together on multiple occasions over the years. They collaborated on “Freedom,” from Beyonce’s Lemonade album in 2016, and “NILE,” from The Lion King soundtrack in 2019. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2017, Lamar reflected on working with the famous vocalist. “How particular about your music,” he remarked. “She is a stickler for detail.” Consider the BET performance. She was really careful about everything — the lighting, the camera blocking, the transition from music to dancing. It was just confirmation of what I already knew.”

Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour has broke the record for the highest-grossing tour by a female musician, earning more than $450 million. Madonna set the previous record in 2008 with her Sticky & Sweet Tour. Over the next month, Beyonce will play in Vancouver, Seattle, Arlington, Houston, New Orleans, and other cities before ending out the tour in Kansas City on October 1. She began her tour in Europe in May and has been on the road ever since.
