Ed Sheeran has announced the release of his new album, Autumn Variations.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter has confirmed that he will release a new album less than four months after his sixth studio album, Subtract, was released.

Autumn Variations, a 14-track album produced by Aaron Dessner, will be released on September 29 via his own Gingerbread Man Records, one week after the final date of his Mathematics World Tour in the United States.

“Last autumn, I discovered that my friends and I were going through a lot of life transitions.” “Everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head, or imploded after the summer heat,” the Bad Habits hitmaker stated in a statement.

“When I was going through a difficult time at the beginning of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on,” Ed continued. “When I learned about my friends’ different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at the time.” “There were highs like falling in love and making new friends, but there were also lows like heartbreak, depression, loneliness, and confusion.”

The singer went on to say that he was inspired after his father and brother exposed him to English composer Edward Elgar and his orchestral piece Enigma Variations, which included 14 compositions each reflecting a different figure in his life.

“This is what inspired me to make this album,” he explained. “When I recorded Subtract with Aaron Dessner, we hit it off right away. We wrote and recorded nonstop, and this album is the result of that collaboration. I believe he has captured the essence of fall in his sonics, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.”

The Mathematics World Tour, which includes 88 gigs, began last April 23 in Dublin and will conclude on September 23 in Los Angeles.
