Beyoncé has paid tribute to O’Shae Sibley, a 28-year-old professional dancer who was tragically stabbed while vogueing to her music at a Brooklyn gas station in what authorities are investigating as an anti-gay hate crime.
“REST IN POWER O’SHAE SIBLEY,” reads a phrase prominently featured on Beyoncé’s official website. On Saturday night, Sibley was vogueing to a Beyoncé song at the petrol station.
Sibley’s friend Otis Pena reported on Facebook Live that a group of males approached him as he was dancing with pals and began shouting homophobic insults at the group.

An NYPD spokesperson told CNN that the slurs finally led to a disagreement.
According to Pena, who witnessed the event and applied pressure on Sibley’s wound, the dispute became heated and a man stabbed him. According to authorities, Sibley was stabbed in the torso and transferred to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A person familiar with the inquiry told CNN that police are looking for a 17-year-old who they suspect is responsible for the stabbing death of the Brooklyn guy.

According to the center’s website, Sibley was a professional dancer who had appeared in multiple music videos and had danced at New York City’s famed Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
New York state senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal tweeted about the event on Monday, saying he was “heartbroken and enraged” to learn of Sibley’s death.
“Despite the best efforts of homophobes, gay joy is not a crime.” “Hate-fueled attacks are,” the gay senator tweeted.
