As per reports, the music catalogue of Queen may potentially fetch a value exceeding $1 billion (£809 million).

According to an insider knowledgeable about the purported music acquisition, Universal Music Group is currently engaged in advanced discussions to procure the complete back catalogue of the iconic band from Disney Music Group. This information was reported by CNN.

According to reports, the transaction is anticipated to conclude within a month. Nevertheless, a representative for Disney Music Group has stated to CNN that there are no intentions to vend the catalogue, which encompasses popular tracks such as Don’t Stop Me Now, We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, and We Will Rock You.

Should the proposed transaction proceed, it would constitute the largest sale price in recorded history, exceeding the present benchmark of $500 million (£404 million) established by the acquisition of Bruce Springsteen’s catalogue in 2021.

As per the source, the elevated sales figure can be attributed to the renewed interest in the band subsequent to the release of the biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018. The film primarily centered on the band’s formation and the life of their former lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury.

Queen’s original members, Brian May and Roger Taylor, persist in their musical endeavors as they collaborate with Adam Lambert, who serves as their primary singer.
