PlayStation Is Introducing A New Handheld Device

Sony has introduced a fresh new PS5 console accessory.

The mysterious ‘Project Q’ device is currently in development.

Sony’s YouTube video reveals that the new device resembles a PS5 controller sliced in half with a screen sandwiched between the two pieces.

However, unlike the Playstation Vita, it is not completely self-contained. This means it will be unable to run games on its own. Instead, ‘Project Q’ must be linked to a PS5 device.

The user can then stream games directly from the console via the Wi-Fi network.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether you’ll need to connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the PS5 console in order for this to work, as Sony has only provided minimal details about the project, which is slated to be released later this year.

There may be some limits, as the device’s reliance on a Wi-Fi network makes it unlikely that gamers will be able to use it outside of their home.

It will need to be close enough to the associated PS5 for it to work, which means you will also need a PS5 console, despite the devices being notoriously tough to obtain since their introduction.

“Later this year, we will launch a dedicated device that allows [you] to stream any game from the PS5 console using remote play over Wi-Fi,” Sony said in a video. It has an eight-inch screen and all of the buttons and functionality of the dual-sense wireless controller, and is internally known as Project Q.”

These features include haptic feedback, in which the controller vibrates at key points in a game, as well as adaptable triggers.

Games must be put on the PS5, and certain types of games, such as VR games, will not be compatible with the platform.

The video also revealed that Sony will be introducing a pair of earbuds, the company’s first earbuds designed exclusively for use with its game consoles. They promise ‘next generation audio immersion’ for PS5 players.

Although details on the new projects are scant, Sony has assured fans that more information will be provided “in the near future.”

Although it is not a fully remote gaming console, ‘Project Q’ may provide players with a few extra alternatives for playing games at home.
