Quentin Tarantino Has Announced The Death Of One Of His Cherished Film Characters

Renowned director Quentin Tarantino has disclosed that a prominent character from one of his films has died.

It’s not rare for people to die in Tarantino’s films – in fact, it’s a rather typical feature of his work – but the majority of the time the deaths occur on screen, and usually in a very violent and gory manner.

It’s usually good news for those who live to see the end of the film since, unless Tarantino decides to modify their fate with a sequel, they’ll live eternally inside the constraints of the picture.

Until now, that is.

Tarantino has all the power of the characters as the creator of the films, and he recently determined to prove it.

Tarantino announced the death of one of the main characters from his 2019 film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood on the podcast The Video Archives, which he co-hosts with writer Roger Avary.

The drama-comedy stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as two performers, a star and his stunt double, who struggled to stay afloat in the quickly changing film industry.

The film made homage to the Manson Family killings, with Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, and killed off several people on screen.

Both DiCaprio and Pitt’s characters, Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth, were still alive when the credits rolled, but it’s DiCaprio’s onscreen counterpart who Tarantino has now decided to say goodbye to.

“We are saddened by the news of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, best known for his roles in the hit TV series ‘Bounty Law’ and ‘The Fireman trilogy,'” said a message on the official Video Archives Twitter account.

“Rick passed away peacefully in his home in Hawaii, and is survived by his wife Francesca.”

It’s unclear how Dalton died, but given that he was said to have been born in 1933, it was most likely due to old age.

Following the announcement, a statement on the podcast’s Twitter account stated that the next episode, slated to be released on Tuesday (23 May), will be a Dalton’memorial episode designed by Quentin that features some of Rick’s best roles.’

Despite his death, Dalton’s narrative is far from ended, as fans will be able to hear some of his tiles in the upcoming book, The Films Of Rick Dalton.
