The next album by the Foo Fighters is dedicated to their late drummer Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl’s late mother Virginia Hanlon Grohl.

The ‘Walk’ rockers will release ‘But Here We Are’ on June 2, and they’ve revealed that the record is dedicated to their bandmate, who was tragically found dead in his hotel room in Colombia in March 2022, aged 50, hours before the band was scheduled to perform at a festival in Bogotá, and the frontman’s parent, who died the same year.

Morning Breath INC designed the basic white cassette and album cover for the LP, and Foos tweeted the record dedication: “For Virginia and Taylor.”

The follow-up to ‘Medicine at Midnight’ from 2021 is characterized as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters have endured over the last year.”

The ‘Everlong’ rockers collaborated with producer Greg Kurstin on the 10-track album, which heralds the start of their new era.

According to a press release, the album is “informed by decades of maturity and depth.”

“‘But Here We Are’ is the sound of brothers seeking refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about the continuation of life,” it continues.

Fans have heard the singles ‘Rescued’ and ‘Under You’ so far.

Following Taylor’s death, the ‘Best of You’ hitmakers resolved to be “a different band going forward.”

“As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year that our band has ever known, we are reminded of how thankful we are for the people that we love and cherish most, and for the loved ones who are no longer with us,” they wrote in a letter to fans.

“The Foo Fighters formed 27 years ago to symbolize the healing power of music and the continuation of life.” And over the past 27 years, our followers have created a global community, a dedicated support network that has helped us all get through the worst of times together. A place where we may share our joys and sorrows, our dreams and anxieties, and unite in a chorus of life through music. We would not have become the band that we are without Taylor, and we know that without Taylor, we will be a different band in the future.

“We also know that you, the fans, meant just as much to Taylor as he did to you, and we know that when we see you again — which we will soon — he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.”
