Whoopi Goldberg Called BS On The Harry And Meghan Vehicle Pursuit, Saying It 'Doesn't Work In New York'

Whoopi Goldberg is not convinced.

The EGOT winner has spoken up on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s claim that they were embroiled in a harrowing car pursuit with paparazzi — and she is not #TeamSussex.

“While leaving the Ziegfeld Theatre, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were followed by paparazzi.” “Their spokesperson described it as a ‘near-catastrophic car chase,'” Goldberg said on “The View” Thursday, making a look that made the studio audience laugh.

“Others said it wasn’t bad,” she went on, “but I think people in New York know that if car chases were allowed in New York, we’d all make it to the theater on time.”

While Goldberg, 67, admitted the royal couple “were dealing with aggressive paparazzi,” she continued, “It just doesn’t work in New York.”

Joy Behar, another panelist, concurred with the “Sister Act” star.

“Sometimes, when I’m in the city, I hear an ambulance trying to get through, and I think, ‘That person is dead,'” she explained.

However, not everyone on the panel agreed.

“No one ever claimed that there was a high-speed chase, and I think when we think about chases, we think about high-speed chases,” Sunny Hostin contended, noting that Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, died at the age of 36 in a vehicle accident involving photographers in 1997.

“I’ll allow them that they were afraid…. When you look at a case like this, where his mother died in a horrific vehicle pursuit and he knows that and [Markle] knows that, I wouldn’t want to be in a position where e-bikes and sedans are aggressively chasing me around the city,” the 54-year-old lawyer stated.

Markle, 41, was recognized by Gloria Steinem at the Women of Vision Awards in Manhattan on Tuesday evening.

Surprise visitors included Harry and the “Suits” alum’s mother, Doria Ragland.

However, after leaving the ceremony, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed to have been pursued by “a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” for two hours.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers,” their representative told Page Six on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a source told us exclusively that the “horrific” episode was “absolutely shocking” and left the couple “very upset.”

However, the NYPD appears to have shot down the accusations.

“There were numerous photographers, which made their transportation difficult,” a police spokesperson said.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination, and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in this regard,” they added.

“We only had one car as part of this,” a high-ranking police insider told The Post. [The chase] was certainly not two hours.”

After Buckingham Palace canceled their security detail, Harry and Markle went to California in 2020 and are expected to spend at least $2 million to secure themselves and their children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 1.
