Deep Water, a shark thriller, will be produced by Gene Simmons’ new film production firm.
On Monday, the Kiss frontman announced the formation of Simmons/Hamilton Productions alongside Gary Hamilton, Arclight Films’ chairman of sales and production.
“Throughout my storied history in the music business, I’ve met all sorts of characters, but Gary Hamilton is the real deal!” he exclaimed in a statement to Variety. “He’s a remarkable film executive and a great collaborator who, along with the fantastic team at Arclight Films, brings his expertise and outstanding knowledge of the film industry to this partnership.”
Deep Water, a survival thriller directed by Renny Harlin from Finland, is the first project to be approved.
The plot of Deep Water revolves around a diverse mix of international airline passengers who are forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters.
The film will go into production later this year.
“I am pumped and excited to be launching Deep Water as our first project together with action maven Renny Harlin at the helm,” the artist continued.
Simmons/Hamilton Productions hopes to produce 25 films in the first five years, with a focus on action, thriller, and genre titles.
