Mama June's Husband Admits He Regrets Agreeing to Marry Her While 'Was Emotionally Messed Up' in Jail

Mama June Shannon and Justin Stroud’s honeymoon period seemed to have come to an end before it should have.

Justin, who wed Mama June in March 2023 after six months of courting, opens up about his emotions in the premiere of WE tv’s Mama June: Family Crisis.

He tells the 43-year-old, “things ain’t how I wanted things to go, like, this whole marriage, you know. “How that transpired, like, wasn’t what I wanted. Like, that’s not how I had envisioned it.

Before celebrating with a private waterfront ceremony in February, the couple said their first “I do” in a civil ceremony.

Mama June explains, “You were at the courthouse and signed the papers too.

Apparently, Justin only accepted because “you asked me in jail.”

Mama June replies, “But you were fine with that.

“Not really,” responds Justin.

To be really honest with you, I was emotionally damaged, he continues. I was experiencing some difficulties. At that time, life wasn’t going the way I wanted. You know, I had just recently completed treatment. Simply put, June, I wasn’t emotionally invested.

Because of this remark, Mama June is concerned that Justin might not be “emotionally into me.”

She goes on to say, “You knew when you got hooked up with me that I was f—ing blind,” referring to childhood cataracts that went untreated and left her legally blind. ‘Oh let’s back out,’ you say now that I’m experiencing all these medical problems. What the f—? Are you saying that you invited me to breakfast only to inform me that you want a divorce?

The reality star visited the hospital in September as a result of persistent headaches and vertigo. The mother of four had already undergone a stomach tuck and a gastric sleeve treatment to help her lose weight.
