With the popularity of Air and his forthcoming (albeit probably brief) return to Bruce Wayne in The Flash, Ben Affleck has had a successful year thus far.
Robert Rodriguez has been working on the thriller Hypnotic for almost 20 years, so he’s undoubtedly hoping for another smash with it. There is a trailer online.
Affleck plays Danny Rourke, a detective determined to find his daughter with the help of psychic Diana Cruz (Alice Braga), whose investigation will cause him to doubt his most fundamental beliefs about his world and everyone in it. The story was originally written by Rodriguez and worked on by Max Borenstein.
While looking into a string of reality-bending bank robberies that were set off by an enigmatic, seductive persona played by William Fichtner, Rourke finds himself falling into a rabbit hole.

The cast also features Jackie Earle Haley as the reclusive foreigner Jeremiah, JD Pardo as Rourke’s associate Nicks, Hala Finley as his missing daughter Minnie, Dayo Okeniyi as conspiracy theorist River and tech whiz Jeff Fahey as Carl. Hypnotic will begin playing in UK theaters on May 26.
