The preliminary hearing concerning the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set in October 2021 was scheduled to take place at the Santa Fe County courthouse in New Mexico on May 3, and the 30 Rock star was anticipated to attend.

The 65-year-old just submitted a waiver, asking to avoid making a personal appearance in court, and the judge allowed it.

According to Baldwin’s petition, which was obtained by Fox News Digital, “I understand that I am charged with the following offense or offenses under the law of the State of New Mexico: Involuntary Manslaughter… in two alternatives.” “I am aware that at every stage of the criminal proceedings, I have the right to personally appear before the Court.”

“After reading and comprehending the foregoing, I request that the Court grant me permission to waive a personal appearance in court for the ensuing proceedings: PRELIMINARY HEARING,” it said.

It is anticipated that the preliminary hearing will last two weeks.

Baldwin was holding a pretend gun during a practice when it accidentally discharged, killing Hutchins. He has consistently denied pulling the trigger.

In January, he was accused of involuntary manslaughter, and in February, he entered a not-guilty plea.

Rust is anticipated to pick back again this spring with Baldwin in the starring role, despite the case and ongoing civil actions connected to the incident.
