Shohei Ohtani of Team Japan struck out Team USA skipper Mike Trout to end the World Baseball Classic in dramatic fashion yesterday, winning the championship and going undefeated in the process.
Another surprise event was Mexico’s unexpectedly making it to the semi-finals, with a game against Puerto Rico in the elimination round.
Numerous celebs attended the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico matchup at Miami’s Loan Depot, including the contentious Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose parents are Mexican and Puerto Rican. After a supporter of Team Puerto Rico threw a beer in Tekashi’s face during Mexico’s comeback victory over PR, a video of him donning a Mexico jersey and waving the country’s flag went viral.
Following that, more video of the “Gummo” rapper at the WBC surfaced online in which he debates why he only acknowledges his Mexican ancestry while rejecting his Puerto Rican origins. Three days after that video went viral, another one showing Tekashi being beaten up in a Miami LA Fitness locker area appeared online.

Although it was never verified, a recent IG post by a user claimed that 6ix9ine had been attacked because of his disrespect for Puerto Rico and his biased support for Mexico.
“Puerto Ricans whooped 69 this wasn’t about snitching, they whooped em for insulting Puerto Ricans after that baseball game,” the statement reads.
