In Malibu, California, there has allegedly been a car accident involving Dick Van Dyke.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins actor reportedly lost control of his vehicle in slick conditions on Wednesday morning and plowed into a gate. (March 22). Soon after, police were summoned to the scene.
According to the report, the 97-year-old actor got a bloody nose and mouth, possibly a concussion, but escaped severe harm and didn’t need to go to the hospital.
Van Dyke has been in a car mishap before when he was a senior, so this is not his first. In 2013, the actor’s car caught fire on a highway but he managed to flee unharmed.
Van Dyke was taken out of his Jaguar after failing to notice that it had caught fire on a Los Angeles freeway.
“It just started making a noise, and at first I thought I had a flat,” he recalled telling TMZ at the time. “Then it started to smoke, and then it burned to a crisp.”
The actor continued, “There was a fireman, a nurse, and a policeman just so happened to be passing by. They saved my life. I’m being looked after by someone.
Van Dyke has largely stepped away from acting in recent years, but he has continued to make sporadic appearances in both film and television endeavors.
He most recently astounded viewers all over the globe by participating in The Masked Singer. The actor wowed viewers with his enthusiastic acts as “Gnome” on the popular talent competition.
His most recent performing roles include Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins Returns from 2018 and Jim Carrey’s comedy-drama Kidding.
