The jurors in the slaying trial of the late rapper XXXTentacion from Florida began hearing witness testimony on February 7 and began deliberating on March 8.

The jury was only a few hours into their discussions when the Hon. Judge Michael Usan told them to come back on March 9 at 10:30 a.m. to continue.

All sides gave their final arguments over the course of two days, from March 7 to 8. Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsom were described as “predators” by prosecutor Pascale Achille for attacking an unprepared XXX.

Achille urged the jurors to find him “guilty” and return with a verdict.

Suspected shooting accomplice Dedrick Williams is sworn in to testify to who he saw in the hallway when he and suspected shooting accomplice Trayvon Newsome were brought into the courtroom via the front entrance while shackled, before the start of day two of closing arguments in the XXXTentacion murder trial at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Williams alleges that at least one juror saw him in shackles. Achille showed the jurors videos of the men grinning, dancing, and flashing fistfuls of $100 bills and said, “This is who they are.

This is really who they are,” she said. “Killers that do this within 24 hours of shooting the target dead and robbing him of $50,000.”

“Observe how joyful they appear. She paused the video and said, “Look at how excited they appear.

Additionally, Achille played surveillance footage she claimed linked the men to the murder, showing the men supposedly hiding the Black Dodge Journey SUV at Riva Motorsports.

On March 8, Boatwright’s attorney, Joseph Kimok, delivered the last of the defense’s closing statements. He informed the jury that although XXX fought with his assailants before being shot to death, the DNA discovered on his corpse and the chain that had been stolen did not belong to Boatwright.

Kimok added that neither Williams, who has been charged with being the getaway driver and ringleader, nor Newsome, the second shooter, had the DNA tested.

Kimok informed the jury, “Whoever (XXXTentacion) battled with is not in this courtroom. “The DNA shows that someone not named, Michael Boatwright or Trayvon Newsome participated in this murder.”

The person who is accused of firing the three bullets that murdered XXXtentacion has been identified as Boatwright.

Allen was called a “liar” by William’s attorney, Mauricio Padilla, to the jurors. Noting that extra witnesses for the prosecution also gave conflicting testimony. He added that other potential suspects, such as rap artist Drake, who was at odds with XXX at the time of his death, were not investigated by the Broward County Sheriff’s office.
