The Rolling Stones Collaborated On A New Song With Paul McCartney

The Rolling Stones are planning to include Paul McCartney on a brand-new tune.

A representative for the Stones clarified that McCartney plays bass on one new song and that Starr hasn’t been working with the group, contrary to a Variety report from earlier this week that claimed both living Beatles members, McCartney and Ringo Starr, would play on a record due out later this year.

The record, which has not yet been named but will be the Stones’ 31st studio album, will include the late Charlie Watts, who recorded his sections before passing away in August 2021, as well as the band’s touring drummer Steve Jordan. The Rolling Stones’ agent claims that McCartney went into the studio in Los Angeles during the album’s mixing stages with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger to record a bass recording. Andrew Watt, who has recently worked on records by Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, and Eddie Vedder as well as the 2022 collaboration Hold Me Closer by Britney Spears and Elton John, produced the album.

The Rolling Stones have been hinting at a new album for some time; earlier this year, Richards posted an Instagram video in which he hinted that new music was on the way, and Jagger stated in a 2021 interview with the Los Angeles Times that the band had “a number of tracks done.” The band claimed that Covid lockdowns had slowed down the recording process in that conversation.

Jagger, Richards, and Don Was collaborated to create the widely praised album Blue & Lonesome. An album of blues versions “sound[ed] more raw and vibrant than the Stones have done in years,” and was “appealingly visceral and live.”
