Drake’s Armed Guards Refused And ‘Kicked’ Subpoena In XXXTentacion Trial

An effort to serve Drake with a subpoena earlier this month was allegedly thwarted by armed guards, according to a defense attorney in the XXXTentacion murder trial.

The Miami Herald reports that Dedrick Williams’ attorney, Mauricio Padilla, filed a motion last week requiring Drake to give a deposition later this month. Williams is one of the three men accused of killing XXXTentacion. On Valentine’s Day, when a subpoena delivery attempt was made outside Padilla’s California house, guards not only shut the gates in the process servers’ faces but also kicked the subpoena down the driveway.

According to Padilla’s account of the encounter, Drake’s security team stood their ground despite the servicers’ numerous efforts to hand Drake the subpoena.

Drake’s participation in the case is based on XXXTentacion’s Instagram Stories post from four months prior to his death, in which he wrote, “IF ANYONE TRIES TO KILL ME IT WAS @champagnepapi IM snitching RN.” Later, X removed the comment and stated that his account had been hacked.

This is about the three-defendant trial in Florida over the fatal shooting of rapper XXXTentacion. Drake is supposed to do a Zoom deposition on Friday. Last week, Judge Michael A. Usan decided that Drake was exempt from having to take a deposition. The rapper must be deposed on February 24 or be held in contempt, according to Padilla’s petition. The move won’t likely be seen by Usan until the following week.
