Dr. Dre will produce Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, the West Coast rap veteran has revealed.
The project is titled Missionary, and Snoop announced it during a recent visit on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast. It is unknown when the album will be published, but it is expected to be finished in November.
It has been 29 years since Snoop and Dre first collaborated on the former’s debut album, Doggystyle, extending their successful collaboration that began with 1992’s The Chronic and setting sales records.
At the 34:30 point, Snoop announced, “I’ma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this: me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months.
And in November, it will be completed. We are celebrating Doggystyle’s 30th anniversary, and Dr. Dre produced it. Missionary is the title of the album.
Smith enquired, “Why that name?” The sports celebrity roared with delight when Snoop retorted, “The first record was Doggystyle.” “That is stunning. Man, I love it,” Smith said.
In recent months, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have released a number of teasers regarding upcoming music. Eminem uploaded a snapshot of the iconic pair’s studio appearance in August along with the message, “just a couple bros..hangin out,” on Twitter.
More images of Snoop and Dre’s studio reunion emerged a few weeks later, showing the longtime friends laughing while appearing to work diligently. Dr. Dre coached Diddy through a vocal take, which Diddy said was a “dream come true” when he dropped by the session.
At the Day Shift movie premiere in August, Snoop told ET, “[Dre and I] are cooking up a little something.” I don’t want to get into too much detail, but we are reuniting. We haven’t worked on a record in 30 years, but we’re still doing and working on things.
The Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre collaboration is still strong, as evidenced by this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. The former Death Row group performed an all-Hip Hop extravaganza in February with Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Mary J
Three accolades, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special, were given to the star-studded performance at the 2022 Creative Arts Emmys (Area).
The aptly named Bacc On Death Row signified Snoop Dogg’s return to the legendary West Coast gangsta rap label as its proud new owner. Missionary will be his 20th studio album and second this year.
Snoop and Dre’s most recent collaboration, meanwhile, arrived last year in the form of “ETA,” an exclusive song for Grand Theft Auto: Online that also featured Busta Rhymes and Anderson .Paak.
