Lizzo will be the subject of a documentary that will air on HBO Max this fall. Doug Pray, the executive producer of HBO’s Dr. Dre/Jimmy Iovine documentary The Defiant Ones, directed the film. The project has yet to be given a title or a release date.
The Lizzo documentary will be released in the months following the release of her second full-length album, Special, which she announced in April with the track “About Damn Time.” The title tune was premiered on Saturday Night Live the same week, where Lizzo was also hosting. Cardi B collaborated with Lizzo on the single “Rumors” last summer, but Lizzo hasn’t stated whether the song would be on Special. She’ll start touring North America in late September, with Latto opening the show.
