EA has unveiled a new game set in the Lord of the Rings universe.
The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-Earth, a free-to-play mobile game, is characterized as a “collectible role-playing game.”
The announcement came as part of a press statement on a new partnership with Middle-Earth Enterprises, which was distributed by Business Wire. As a result of the cooperation, EA will be producing The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-Earth, with Capital Games as the primary developer.
Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes, a mobile RPG with card-based items and action, was previously developed by Capital Games. Heroes Of Middle-Earth is likely to be similar, but we’ll have to wait and see what the project looks like in the end.
According to the press release, The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-Earth will feature ‘turn-based combat’ and characters from J.R.R Tolkien’s literary works. As part of the contract, EA will not have access to The Lord Of The Rings film rights and will instead rely on the books as a source of inspiration.
According to the official description, “The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-Earth will offer immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, extensive collection mechanisms, and a huge roster of characters from throughout the enormous universe of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit.” Players battle through legendary stories from Tolkien’s realm and join the fight against Middle-great Earth’s villains.”
