Almost 13 years after splitting from Katy Perry, Russell Brand made a rare remark regarding their divorce.
During Thursday’s (April 3) episode of the iHeartRadio podcast, Stay Free with Russell Brand, the actor from Forgetting Sarah Marshall talked candidly about his relationship with the “Teenage Dream” icon and the reasons behind their 2012 breakup.
“I can tell you that when I was married to Katy Perry, she was like a—not totally normal, because she’s a huge, amazing star—but she wasn’t strange or out of character. And, from what I could see, wasn’t involved in anything bad. I have nothing but respect for her, and the reasons why a marriage didn’t work are the typical human causes.
The celebrity went on to say that their arguments were commonplace.
Although I clearly disagree with her political beliefs, I also probably disagree with some of my beloved wife, Laura Brand’s, political beliefs. Thus, you are always at odds with others, aren’t you?

Brand had already discussed his divorce from the “Last Friday Night” singer, according to E!News. The period of his life that he described to Bear Grylls in 2023 was “chaotic” and “disconnected.” Additionally, Perry has openly discussed their breakup, referring to “friction” and everything “happening all at once” in a 2020 interview with 60 Minutes Australia.
The well-known hitmaker and Orlando Bloom are currently engaged, and they have a daughter named Daisy Dove, who is four years old. Laura Gallacher is Brand’s wife. The couple has three children together: Mable, who is eight years old, Peggy, who is five, and an unnamed third who was born in November 2023.
